Maasai Mara
So the good folks at designforafrica.com let us trade in our bikes to use their recently overhauled Landrover to go and look at some wild life in a national park about 250kms from Nairobi. This distance took about 8 hours to cover. Partly because we were under orders not to stress the new engine, also partly due to the fact that the roads looked like they had recently been bombed (adding insult to injury there were a couple of huge road side signs claiming that fuel levies had helped to improve the roads right where people had been driving off the tarmac because the road was so crap). Also I'm afraid that 57hp is not quite enough to haul around 3 tons of English engineering.
Despite our lack of tractor-like power, we did our best to help other travelers in need like this HiAce full of blue haired English retirees. Unfortunately a Landcruiser standing by had to finish the job.
Flushed with a couple of successful off road excursions...

we tried out the Landy in a bit of mud...

OK Dietmar, get out and dig. Is that something in the grass behind you..?
Later we saw a bunch of animals wandering about the place.
Big ones...

Strange coloured ones...

Well fed and lazy ones...

Classic designed ones...

Little ones...

Vegetative ones...

Mystic ones...

And more big uns...

And last but not least, a bit of lion action. Finally one of them got up and did something instead of lying around looking pretty for the tourists. Not for the faint hearted..!
